Do you sit at your job all day? Does your back hurt?
Do you want to understand your body better?
Then I suggest trying the Rolf Method of Structural Integration.
Our bodies are marked by how we live our lives. They are created to be moving, but instead we’ve become sedentary, spending long hours sitting in one position. In this gradual process, some parts of our bodies become stronger, some weaker or shorter. Over time we start to feel our physical limitations, stiffness or pain.
At the beginning of the last century, Dr. Ida Rolf developed the Rolf Method, a structural integration approach to help remove these problems. This effective system of manual therapy deals mainly with reorganizing the fascia, the soft tissue found throughout your body that provide not only structural support but also connectivity and direction.
Dr. Ida Rolf found that gravity significantly affects our bodies. Her method aids in aligning your body and balancing it to function better within the earth’s gravitational fields.
Part of the therapy is movement education – retraining your body using small and slow motions, so that your body remembers movements that aren’t harmful. Chronic physical problems often stem from bad habits in movement picked up in childhood.
The Rolf Method in and of itself does not make everything perfect, rather it is the beginning of a process to improvement.
The basic therapy is made up of 10 sessions in which I follow a system, working on various parts of your body that I then bring into balance and align as a whole.
I focus on how the body functions. I’m interested in how you stand, walk, and breath and I work according to this.
Each session takes approximately 1.5 hours. The recommended interval between sessions is 1-4 weeks. This provides enough time for your body to align even better.
After the initial series of 10 sessions, you may want to continue with advanced sessions that follow up on the initial 10 but focus even more on any of your individual “tight” spots or needs. It is recommended to take at least a six-month break after the initial 10 sessions before starting any advanced sessions.
Here’s what one of my client’s said:
“In my opinion, the Rolf Method is unique for several reasons. First of all, I realized my previous bad habits. I hadn’t been treating my body well, using it only as a tool, and if something didn’t work, I wanted it fixed right away. I had never perceived my body as one interconnected whole. During the therapy, I looked into how my body functions, its connection with the mind and the experiences I had accumulated in my life. I learned to perceive my body and connect to it. I learned how to relax or engage my body or its parts so that I wouldn’t prevent it from functioning well. Since going to Radim, my Rolf Practitioner, my long-term pain-related problems have disappeared, and I feel great. It’s difficult to explain the entire process, feeling, and experience. There’s nothing easier than trying it out and gaining your own experience for yourself.“

About me
As a boy, I did judo. It was great physical training that taught me (and my body) what it means to lose my balance and what gravity can do. It certainly was an education in how to perceive energy and how to work with it, something in adulthood I have continued to develop and explore at various self-awareness and personal development seminars.
I discovered the benefits of the Rolf Method in the 1990s when I completed a series of 10 sessions with Aleš Urbanczik.
During these sessions, I learned how to work on completely relaxing my body and get relief from the long-term pain and limits I had. It also improved my awareness of my own body and helped me recognize my bad physical habits (posture, movement).
After completing the first 10 sessions, I continued with the advanced sessions, which motivated me to do stretching exercises on a regular basis.
In the end, Aleš became my teacher in the Rolf Method course.
I successfully completed the Czech Association for Structural Integration’s course (www.casi-rolfterapie.cz) and became a certified Rolf Practitioner.
It’s a great pleasure for me to see satisfied clients taking a big step forward in their lives with the Rolf Method.
It truly is an inspiring and effective method to attain overall better health.
Testimonials
I decided to try the Rolf Method because of my back pains from sitting in front of a computer at work. I went to the first session mainly because I was curious; I really looked forward to going to the other nine sessions. This method helped me become aware of my body, how it can be relaxed, how to have better posture and improve my breathing. I learned to be more aware of my body and how I move.
I’m a paper pusher and I’ve tried a lot of massages throughout my life. The Rolf Method for me is relaxation in the depths of my body that can now stand upright and fully inhale. This therapy has also become my outlet, a valve of sorts. Yes, I even recently broke down and started crying at one of the sessions. They say that the stiff spots on our bodies is where we hide our emotions – maybe there’s something to it. But it was worth it.
I’m 59 years old and even though gymnastics had given me a good foundation in sports, my whole body was gradually feeling more tired. Stress from running a business and a serious accident contributed to this tiredness. Through the Rolf Method I was thankfully able to start doing physical activities again. I can’t say it wasn’t all without pain, but the results have been amazing. Even after a year, I still feel light and relaxed, full of vitality and in a better psychological state. I’m a masseuse and have seen an improvement in my posture.
I’d been struggling with back pain, headaches and poor posture for years. I read something about the Rolf Method and decided to try it. From the first meeting with Radim, I knew I was in the right hands. This therapy can test you physically and psychologically and therefore it was important for me to feel that the Rolf Practitioner is calm and composed. Radim earned my trust, which is crucial for this type of therapy.
